We got an orange 'X' on our last tree standing in the front yard shortly after the new year. They came around in April (4 months later) to cut it down. As sad as I was to see our shade go, the thought of not dealing with all the maple seed helicopter things this spring, was appealing. As it turned out, they couldn't cut it down that day because the neighbor across the street had his car parked in front of their yard, and they needed the street clear for the 3 big trucks. So they nailed a 'NO PARKING' sign on the tree and across the street so that it would be clear when they came again. Through the summer, the 'X' and the 'NO PARKING' signs faded until finally the wind blew both signs away. Since they didn't cut it down before the helicopter seedling season, I was hoping it would at least stay long enough to shade us from the summer heat. Well, they finally came last friday. (Another 4 months later). Great timing! It is starting to cool down a little, and with them cutting it down now, we won't have to rake the leaves, nor fish them out of the pool next spring. Perfect! Well, that is until they broke a hose on the loader. They said they would come back the next day to finish. That would have been last Saturday. I would have been happy with monday. It has now been a week, and we are left with this bare, branchless trunk. UGLY! Not only have they left this bug ugly trunk in the front yard (see bottom picture), but the loader grabbed huge chunks of grass out, and when they drove up on the lawn with the trucks, they killed more of my grass. Guess who is getting a call from me tomorrow? I hope I don't have to wait another 4 months!!!
